Fancy a Pull Quote?

A Pull Quote is something that appears inside a book and reads along the lines of, “Mr. Hunt takes off at racing speed.” —The Wall Street Journal. It’s normal practice by publishers to have an entire page of them either at the front or back of a book. Indie authors – who don’t usually get reviews from the mainstream media – will often extract their pull quotes from their Amazon reviews, so, “As good as my last Stephen King novel.” —Paul Smith, Amazon Review.

I thought it would be fun to include an apprentice’s Amazon review alongside my pull quotes from The Wall Street Journal, The Times, The Guardian, SFX magazine etc. If you would like to leave a review on Amazon, visit the product page at, hit the button at the top of the reviews section which reads ‘write a customer review’ and pen a review on Amazon there for The Darkness of the Vigil.

The review which picks up the largest quantity of helpful ‘likes’ on Amazon will be featured on the pull page of the first Vigil book (to keep things cordial, I’m going to ignore each review’s unhelpful dislikes count)! If you want your name to be immortalised in print and ebook form, get reviewing!

If you’re using a family member’s Amazon account to login and post your review, do ask and gain permission first, please. Otherwise, said family member is going to be mighty irate/confused when they get an email from Amazon telling them their review has been approved, and they know nothing about it!

I’ll close this exercise by the end of September and announce the winning review with the most helpful likes then.
